Tiv Heritage Archive homepage — Wisdom of the Tiv People

Homepage

The homepage introduces "Wisdom of the Tiv People" — the archive's welcome and entry point.

Overview

A digital preservation platform for Tiv language and culture, live at tivheritage.com — a cultural archive of proverbs, names, plants, festivals, and history, powered by a local-LLM Tiv/English translation engine and retrieval-augmented search with zero dependency on external AI APIs.

The Problem

Tiv language, culture, and indigenous knowledge — proverbs, names, plants, festivals, food, and oral history — existed only in the memory of elders and scattered offline sources, with no searchable, centralised digital record. Younger generations and the diaspora had no accessible way to learn or preserve it, and no Tiv/English translation tool existed that did not depend on external AI APIs.

Our Solution

TeamO built the Tiv Heritage Archive, a Laravel platform organising Tiv cultural knowledge into structured, searchable categories — dictionary, names, proverbs, plants, festivals, foods, animals, and a full Tiv Bible — alongside an English/Tiv translation engine and "Tiv AI," a retrieval-augmented conversational assistant grounded in the archive's own knowledge graph and running on a local LLM with zero dependency on external AI APIs, protecting both cost and data sovereignty. The platform is mobile-responsive and free and open to the public.
